FOOD AS MEDICINE HEALTH TIPS — WALNUTS
Walnuts are rich in alpha-linolenic acid, a plant-based omega-3 fatty acid. Walnuts also process more polyphenol-like compounds than any other type of nut. Both omega-3 fatty acids and polyphenols are considered critical brain foods that may counteract oxidative stress and inflammation, two drivers of cognitive decline. Hence walnuts could beneficially influence cognition.
3 INGREDIENT OATMEAL WALNUT COOKIES
1 Cup quick rolled oats
2 VERY ripe bananas
1/2 Cup crushed walnuts
Preheat oven to 375°
Mix all three ingredients together.
Place 1 Tbsp of mixture on a greased baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes. Makes approximately 14 cookies.
